Did you know April 11th – 18th is Black Maternal Health Week? Welp, now you know!
It’s a week focused on the Black experience in conception, pregnancy, birthing, and post-partum addressing barriers to effective care, comprehensive treatment, and supportive services. Issues of reproductive justice, holistic health, and political reform are at the forefront during this week so keep an eye out for a HUGE series of events (all virtual because… COVID).
In all that is covered this week, I have to say that I often find that loss mom’s (and loss parents because everyone with a uterus doesn’t identify as a “mom”) are left out of discussions. The focus is more so on those with living children navigating motherhood/parenthood. Another area that is undermentioned (IMO) is Black maternal mental health.
I operate at the intersection of those two areas: Black angel mom/loss parent support and Black maternal mental health. That’s been the driving force behind Black Angel Mom and is at the heart of the work I do in so many ways. Throw a little sexology in there and BAM! You got ME!!
Sooooo in honor Black Maternal Health Week, I’m supporting the community in a few ways:
- The Black Angel Mom Guided Journal is available on Amazon for the discounted price of $20 THIS WEEK ONLY! It’s normally $27 so grab your copy at this lower price while it lasts.
- I’ve created a Four-Activity PDF to be delivered straight to your inbox for only $5! FIVE BUCK’S y’all! If you are unable to make the investment in the journal right now or don’t want to wait the shipping time, this is THE PERFECT little takeaway. Head over to the Grab BAM Stuff tab to secure your copy!
- Sign up is now open for BAM Soul Support – Session One (May 5 – June 10). This is a six(6) week guided virtual support group centering the Black experience in perinatal loss. You can sign up HERE. Cost is $10/person/session.
Popsocket’s are still available too! You know you need one for all this Netflix/Hulu/Disney+ & Chilling you’re doing.
Stay safe, sane, and sanitized everyone!
